Design Philosophy

Designing to truly satisfy people is one of his ultimate design objectives. Designing is not just a process of making but also a creative process with a highly considered approach for people. This thinking is connected to the essence of human beings. His design goal is to foster moments of delight and satisfaction by putting something positive and beneficial into the world.

Sungkyu Yang, Interior Architect, Researcher and Multidisciplinary Designer, received his BFA in Architectural Design with a concentration in Graphic Design from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and his Master of Design in Interior Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). He has had learning and working experiences in a variety of areas including product design, graphic design, UI/UX design, furniture, installation art, architecture, interior architecture and adaptive reuse studies. Areas of interest and research include philosophy, user analysis, spatial experience, and social issues. His graduate thesis from RISD explores how to utilize the adaptive reuse potential of the International Space Station to better understand human dwelling and how to develop more ideal human-spatial element interaction by manipulating existing conditions. At RISD, he was the editorial and graphic design assistant for the Int|AR Journal topic, "Volume 08: Water as Catalyst". Recently he joined interior design projects for Google and Apple Music. He is a former Teaching Fellow at RISD and a current graduate student at the Royal College of Art (RCA).
